The use of funding for the purchase of a boat has several advantages. Since buying a boat is generally a significant investment, financing can democratize access to boating. Moreover, by financing your boat, you can usually buy a newer and more powerful boat, plus all the equipment necessary for a safe and entertaining navigation!

The ship mortgage requires a down payment of between 10 and 20% of the value of the boat (depending on age, type and cost of the boat purchased). This type of financing is recommended when the loan value exceeds $ 150 000.

The instalment sale contract is the type of financing usually advised to future owners who do not plan to sail regularly in foreign waters and whose boat’s value does not exceed $ 150 000. The capital outlay is minimal and the lender is considered the owner until the last payment is made.
